Today I’m reviewing a new product that’s part of my daily routine: the L’Oreal Infallible 24H-Matte Foundation I’ve been using it for a few weeks now. I’ve been a big fan of light and natural looking foundations, but after my Hello Flawless foundation ran out, and my skin broke out, I felt I needed a little bit more help coverage wise. Also: the budget was a little bit tight. I just came back from Paris, and my first paycheck wasn’t coming in untill the end of September. I watched Beauty Guru Desi Perkins use this in one of her video’s, so decided to buy it and see if this is a foundation that suits me.
L’Oreal about the 24-matte foundation:
- Demi-matte finish
- 24 hour wear
- Medium coverage
- Air light texture
The foundation comes in a tube, not the most attractive packaging, but a lot more practical to take with you than a large bottle. And this is a drugstore foundation, after all. The tube contains 35ml of product, which is 5ml than most foundations.
The tricky part was to find a matching color. I’m an NC30 in MAC foundations, and I use ‘Champagne’ – Hello Flawless Foundation by Benefit. Both foundations have a yellow undertone. I searched the internet, and came to the conclusion that they sell a lot more colors in the U.S. And that the bloggers I found online use the colors, that aren’t sold here. I swatched a few colors in the drugstore, but ended up just picking a color that seemed ok and hoping for the best. The color: 24 Golden Beige.
The color seems a bit off when I apply it, it’s a bit too dark or maybe that’s just adjusting to the different consistency than my Hello Flawless Foundation. It is a bit more pink than I expected. It really took me a few times to find the right way to apply it.L’Oreal Infallible 24H-Matte Foundation has a medium coverage, but it’s a very, very good medium coverage.
At first I used my Real Techniques buffing brush, but I felt the foundation looked a bit too cakey. I used too much product and found it hard to blend. I also tried my Zoeva 112 foundation brush, but same problem. I really needed to use less product! I put a few dots of foundation all over my face, and then used a damp beauty blender to work the foundation all over…Much better!
After a few weeks of using this foundation, I have to say I’m liking it. I chose to try this foundation because of coverage, and the promise of a demi-matte finish. I hate looking too cakey or too dewey. It has a matte finish, but doesn’t make the skin look flat. It stays on great, on work days I apply in the morning at 7.30 A.M and it’s still where it needs to be at 18:00 P.M.
When I use the rest of my make up, and contour and highlight, it doesn’t even show that the color isn’t a perfect match. I’m usually not a big fan of drugstore foundations, I find it hard to find a good color match or lasting foundation, but ended up being pleasantly surprised by L’Oreal Infallible 24H-Matte Foundation!
